MARY ELIZABETH LANDERS, 85, of 18 Wesley St., a retired accountant, died Tuesday at home. She was the wife of Benjamin E. Landers.
Born in Newport, she was a daughter of the late Charles C. and Elizabeth (Craigh) Sherman.
She previously was a bookkeeper for J.T. O'Connell and a medical secretary for Dr. Charles Serbst. Mrs. Landers last worked as an accountant at the Aquidneck Medical Center.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Joseph Senior Citizens. In her early years, she had been a Brownie and Cub Scout leader and a council leader for Junior Catholic Daughters.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, C. Michael Landers of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Benjamin Landers Jr. of Newport; two daughters, Jane Ann Brennan of Warrenton, Va., and Mary C. Clark of Middletown; and nine grandchildren.
