DALTON -- Alexander Quinto Lombardi, 82, of 68 Central Ave. died Friday at Kindred Hospital in Peabody.
Born in Pittsfield on March 7, 1919, son of Antonio and Maria Carnevale Lombardi, he was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He had resided in Dalton since the late 1950s.
A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he served in the 504th heavy bombardment group as a sergeant. He was a mechanic for B-29 bombers and was stationed on the island of Tinian in the South Pacific. Mr. Lombardi was employed by GE as a winder for 17 years, retiring in 1987. Previously, he was a buyer and sales manager for the former Rosenfeld's men's store. He was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the GE Pensioners' and Quarter Century clubs. He was a former member of Wahconah and Berkshire Hills country clubs, where he enjoyed playing golf. He was also a licensed pilot and enjoyed skiing.
He and his wife, the former Grace Condron, were married June 2, 1956, in St. Agnes' Church. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Mark A. Lombardi of Westford, Stephen D. Lombardi of Framingham and Michael J. Lombardi of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three daughters, Catherine M. Lombardi of Dalton, Mary Ann Lombardi of Albany, N.Y., and Christine G. Miclette of Spring Hill, Tenn.; a brother, Angelo W. Lombardi of Pittsfield, and nine grandchildren.
